What is a Walk Mission?

Luke Chapter 10, sending out the disciples to preach and heal, is the inspiration.

Teams of 8-10 people from all the UK serve local churches for between 4-8 days.

They carry out a programme planned by the local host churches.

The walking element of the mission comes when teams move between places, usually to another church.

There is a choice of male teams, sleeping on church hall floors: or mixed teams who stay in people's homes.

They all the do the same evangelistic work - typically door to door visiting, pub outreach, home meetings, school assemblies and lessons, church serices, meetings and events for all ages.

We seek opportunites to share the gospel message in word and drama and with prayers for healing.

Participation

This walk was initiated by a group of local Christian leaders and has gained support from denominational leads.

Through Faith Missions will visit every minister in the area to discuss the proposed mission. Local churches choose to join in by issuing a walk invitation.

Through Faith Missions offer traing and support to all participating churches to help them tailor the Walk to their situation and needs. This includes thorough preparation and follow up. TFM also trains and supports all the volunteer walkers.

All team memebers attend one of TFM's nationwide practical training weekends. New members have a short interview.

Everyone has a CRB check and has to be supported in their application by their home church minister.

A Task Force has been established with local people to help shape the overall strategy for the Walk.
